ALIPH AR is an augmented reality app that accompanies the photo exhibition “Protecting heritage to build peace” from the International alliance for the protection of heritage in conflict areas (ALIPH).
You can explore and interact with 3D models in AR, amongst other features. The app has both English and French language options.
-Trigger AR panels to place, move, scale, rotate, and explore 3D renders of cultural heritage sites.
-Trigger AR panels to watch videos about ALIPH’s projects.
-Explore panels for images and text to learn more about the projects and people supported by ALIPH. This AR app complements a physical photo installation.
Together, they form an immersive exhibition that tells the story of how heritage has been, and continues to be, a collateral victim of conflict, and increasingly, a target or a weapon of war. It also testifies to how the protection of heritage in countries in conflict or in post-crisis situations can contribute to generating hope, initiating intercultural and interreligious dialogue, strengthening sustainable economic and social development, and building peace. Finally, by witnessing the beauty of some of the world’s heritage through this immersive exhibit, we are reminded of our common humanity.
This app contains both a location-based mode that can be used at the physical exhibition, as well as an at-home, standalone mode that can be experienced anywhere. Download the app and scan the augmented reality markers on the panels to reveal extra information including 3D models of protected cultural locations and videos.
This app is free to use and offers links to learn more about ALIPH and to donate to the Foundation.
